Brilliant individuals, ineffective teams ? When I work with organizations, I often notice a striking reality: individualism is a major obstacle to collective performance.
Companies hire top talent, gather experts… yet the results fall short. Why ? Because assembling great individuals doesn’t automatically create a high-performing team.
I’ve seen teams transform by applying three key principles :
- Team members need to understand why they are working together. A common vision fuels motivation more than individual goals. Everyone should see how their work contributes to the bigger picture.
- Too often, organizations celebrate individual achievements but overlook collective success. What if we also recognized team accomplishments?
- Co-creation sessions, team brainstorming, peer learning… A team that gets used to working together naturally becomes stronger.
Individualism is not inevitable. It’s a mindset that shifts when we change the game’s rules.
